Physio for Kids
Physiotherapy - how does it help children?
Children’s Physiotherapy is a clinical area of physiotherapy that aims to improve a child’s movement abilities through the use of methods such as movement training, exercise, stretching, motivation, adapted equipment, and education.
Aquatic Physiotherapy combines the warmth, buoyancy & resistance of water with the expertise of the physiotherapist to develop a child’s balance, movement, strength, coordination, sense of position & movement, and swimming skills.
Physiotherapists practicing in the field of "paediatrics" have studied areas including anatomy, neuroscience, physiology & child development to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of children with physical challenges including slow or poorly-controlled motor development, disabilities and injuries.
All physiotherapists in Australia are required by law to be registered. Registration as a physiotherapist is only possible after completion of a university degree in physiotherapy or health sciences with a physiotherapy course.
All Child’s Play Physiotherapy staff have postgraduate training in the area of Aquatic physiotherapy for children and swim instruction.
